Frequently Asked Questions
Do the fountains come with the pump? Yes! Each fountain comes complete with pump and control valve. All you do is add water, plug into a “ground-fault-outlet” and enjoy! Absolutely no plumping required! How long will the pumps last and where can I get a replacement? As long as you never allow your fountain to run dry, under normal circumstances the pump will last for many years (Pumps carry a 6 month guarantee from the date of purchase, excluding, but not limited to damage caused by negligence - such as allowing the fountain to run dry). Replacement pumps may be purchased from “Fountains of Living Waters”. My pump makes a “vibrating” noise—what can I do? First, make sure the pump isn’t touching the side of your fountain by moving it around while it’s running. Second, remove and inspect the inside of your pump for debris and ensure it’s not damaged—clean and replace. Lastly, if the above fails to correct the problem, you may need a replacement. Simply give us a call. We stock pumps for all fountains. Is there any assembly required for the fountains and sculptures? In most cases, no. Almost all of Artisan Greg’s fountains and sculptures are pre-assembled and require no assembly. What type of water may I use in my fountain? We strongly recommend using “filtered” water, as many municipal water sources contain chemicals, minerals and salts that can cause premature scale buildup on your fountain. Never use well water which contains high amounts of lime and other minerals. How can I eliminate algae growth in my fountain? Under some circumstances you may experience a problem with the growth of algae in you fountain. This is most common in a warm atmosphere especially if your fountain is placed in a sunny location. Don’t use bleach! Bleach has a soap content that will cause your fountain to “foam”. The best remedy for algae is to add a product called “Small Fountain Clear” once a week to the water in your fountain. You may obtain this product by contacting “Fountains of Living Waters”. What is the best way to clean my fountain? Please see “Cleaning” under “Fountain Care and Maintenance”. Can I place my fountain outdoors? Yes! Most of the fountains created by Artisan Greg can be used indoors or out. Be that as it may, be sure and never allow your fountain to freeze! This could cause stress fractures and water lines to burst. I’m getting a green tint on my fountain, is this harmful? The green and blue-green tint forming on your fountain is actually a natural patina as the copper reacts to the water over time. This is not a rust and it will not hurt your fountain at all. This only adds to the natural beauty of the copper and adds character to your fountain (example: The Statue of Liberty). If your fountain is placed outdoors in the weather, this patina will form more rapidly and cover the entire surface of your fountain. Is there some special care for my sculpture? Most sculptures are clear coated to protect and seal in the natural patina of the copper. The only care needed is a light dusting from time to time with a feather duster. How long will it take to receive my art work from Artisan Greg? The fountains and sculptures you see are not “mass produced”, but designed and created individually one-by-one by Artisan Greg. Therefore, in most cases (depending on Greg’s backlog), it will take 4—6 weeks to complete. For more information and a projected date of completion, please contact us. What kind of guarantee is on the fountains and sculptures? See Warranty & Refunds. Is it safe for pets to drink out of the fountains? What about putting fish in them? It is perfectly safe for pets to drink out of your fountain. However, fish or other aquatic life cannot live in them due to the properties of copper. Do you have a showroom we may visit?
